Have you ever gotten a stain on your favorite silk dress or suit tie? It can be very difficult to rub out stains, especially on silk. When you’re dealing with such a delicate fabric, the last thing you want to do is just throw it in the washing machine! Silk hold stains permanently, unless you do this simple process to remove the stain.
What you’ll need
- Laundry detergent
- Fabric softener
- One towel
The process is quick, easy, and uses common household items! Keep in mind, follow these steps precisely for the most accurate results. When hand washing your silk fabric make sure you wash it with cold water and not hot, or else the fabric will shrink!
Fill your Laundreez with cold water and add half a cup of your favorite laundry detergent. Next, carefully hand wash fabric in the solution for 5 minutes. After that, take the garment out and drain the Laundreez bag. Fill the bag up again with cold water, only this time, add your favorite fabric softener.
Gently place the fabric in the new solution and let it soak for 8 minutes. Next, squeeze the garment to press the water out. Do not wring silk as this could cause the fabric to stretch and cause damage to the shape of your clothing.
After thoroughly rinsing the fabric out, lay the silk on a towel and roll it up to get all of the excess water out. Finally, lay it flat on a towel to dry. Do not use a tumble dryer as the heat can cause silk to shrink.
